December 30, 2011 I have had at least two horses since the day I rescued two from the Texarkana Animal Shelter (now known as the Animal Care and Adoption Center) back in 2006. Now I am down to just one horse.
I rescued a momma and her five month old baby, Harley and Fiona. I sent Harley to a trainer to learn basic riding. That didn't work out so I found her a new home after she helped me find the ground on a cold December day. The ground was frozen. I was sore and not so happy. Training wasn't going to fix her. She just didn't want to be rode, or brushed, or pet.
This year, magazines used a lot of ink writing about who got married and who broke up. But all that aside, there were still plenty of celebrity news stories to go around. Here's a look at 10 that had everyone buzzing.
December 27, 2011 Katy is approximately two and one-half years old. She is a heeler mix, good on a leash. Super smart and learns new tricks quickly. She is house trained and great outdoors too! She prefers to be the only dog. Katy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and heart worm free. Katy keeps all the varmints out of the yard. Bless his heart, he was wondering around on South Stateline in Texarkana. I had several calls, text messages, Facebook messages and emails about him before I was able to get over and pick him up.

December 20, 2011 I won one of those silent auction deals at the Mistletoe Fair this year. It was a private party dinner for four people at Twisted Vines. I wanted to have a nice holiday dinner with family and friends so I rushed to schedule it before Christmas.
What an amazing experience and an incredible dinner. The atmosphere was more than I could have asked for! We had the entire place to ourselves. We were catered to like rock stars.
Dinner was my planned around one of my favorite foods, there was Christmas music playing in the background as well as the Miracle on 34th Street movie on a huge screen. The scene was set for a fabulous evening.

I was the FIRST customer at Crawfish Palace in Haughton, LA last week. I am so excited that my favorite food is back in season. It will be a while before they make it all the way to Texarkana so until then, I will be traveling South.
December 16, 2011 Sometimes a vacation is more work than fun when you have to do a bunch of planning. It is a lot of work for me because I have so many animals to make arrangements for. The thought of a "staycation" really sounded good. Especially when I realized I had a bunch of time to use or lose before the end of the year.
I have a goal to downsize, organize, simplify my life by 2012 so staying home for a week sounded like a good plan. I probably would have been much further along in my plans had I not gotten sick on the very first day of my staycation. What luck!
