During the Tuesday, May 11 regular session for Pleasant Grove Independent School District there were some big announcements made about new faculty coming to the school district. One from TISD and the other from LEISD

Congratulations to these Arkansas High School students that have been selected to attend the week-long program at the Arkansas Boys State and the Arkansas Girls State. These programs have been inspiring high school juniors into becoming future leaders in all levels of communities and government since the 1940s.

Congratulations to Zach Fowler the Pleasant Grove Associate Principal for being recognized by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) in being selected as the Region 8 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.

Last year was a tough year for all of us but some of the real heroes were the teachers. Teachers already have a tough job at not only educating our kids but challenging them and inspiring them. Then add a pandemic into the mix and learning different avenues to reach our youth and you've got yourself some heroes.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana just announced two more students that have been awarded the Honors Scholarships. A big congratulations to Conner Markham and Seth Welch.

Big Congratulations to Texas High School! They competed in a Public Service Announcement video competition about distracted driving for the Texas Department of Transportation and they won!!

In a recent April board meeting, The Ashdown Public School Board has approved substantial pay increases for teachers on the certified pay scale in the district for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.

TISD is looking for great teachers to join their Tiger family and education team.

Jamiya Greene of Ogden, Arkansas, has been nominated for the 2021 TRiO Hall of Fame at the Arkansas Association of Student Assistance Programs. Greene is a Senior at the Arkansas High School Collegiate Academy, where she will graduate with a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree simultaneously.

The 2020 edition of The Hawk yearbook was named a Pacemaker Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) on March 9, 2021.

Believe it or not, the school year will be coming to a close before you know it and that means that spring graduations will be here soon!

This past weekend, the Pleasant Grove High School Keyettes sponsored the 2021 Miss PGHS Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, March 13 in the Pleasant Grove High School Performing Arts Center.
