Celebrate Mardi Gras in Texarkana for the second year in a row. Last year was the first festival ever to be held in the Twin Cities! It was a lot of fun too. Be on Front Street to catch the thousands of throws during the parade on Saturday, March 1.
I love Mardi Gras season. In the past it signified the beginning of crawfish season but I have since discovered that I can get crawfish as early as November if I am willing to travel south. I went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans a few years ago. Twice actually. It was a lot of fun. One trip was what I call the "Parade Route" because the entire 4 days was spent going to parade after parade.
Next Tuesday is a big day…literally. This year, February 21st is Mardi Gras, or translated, Fat Tuesday. The day we all party down and do all kinds of sinful things before giving it all up for Lent. Yes, even the dogs.
Entertainment starts tonight with live music at Hopkins.A new club is open in Texarkana called Lead Bellies, located in the old Dixie Grill (aka Dixie Diner). Mardi Gras will be celebrated on Saturday at Fat Jack's.
