Carly Rae Jepsen’s Version of Classic Little Mermaid Song Now Available

A few months ago, Carly Rae Jepsen revealed that Disney had tapped her to remake The Little Mermaid song "Part of Your World" for the upcoming Diamond Edition Blu-ray release of the movie.  The song is now available on iTunes, and Carly says in a message to her fans, "I absolutely adore The Little Mermaid and I have since I was little, so naturally I was SO excited to sing my own version."

"Part of Your World" is a Broadway-style ballad in which Ariel, the Little Mermaid, expresses her desire to become human.  And Carly says recording it really brought out the actress in her.

"I don't think I've ever been so animated with my arms and gestures!" she say's "Just because my little musical theater side totally came out and got to play for a day, 'cause that song is so theatrical."

The experience also inspired Carly to make a change to her appearance, or so she claims.  A few months ago, she surprised fans by dying her hair red, just like a certain little mermaid.

She say's, "I've always wanted to do it and I've never kinda been brave enough.  And leading up to [recording the song], people would ask me, "Why did you go [and do it]?"  And I had to keep the secret of, 'Oh, just 'cause, just 'cause.' The truth is, I get to be Ariel!"

In addition to recording a new version of the tune, which was sung by actress Jodi Benson in the original movie, Carly's shot a new video.  A 90-second clip will debut on the Disney Channel this Saturday, while the full version will be included in the Diamond Edition Blu-ray and digital release on October 1.
