Camille Parker recently returned to Texarkana to serve as the new face of Harvest Texarkana. But her roots here run deep and the new chapter in her life reminds her of all that she has to be grateful for.

When I sat down to write this, I was surprised at just how hard it was to focus in on one area of my life to express gratitude. Having just moved back to the Texarkana area, I am so grateful to be close to most of my family again. I’m grateful for a job where I LOVE coming to work, even when the days are long and my task list seems never ending.  And I’m grateful for my faith which I credit for getting me through the storms of life and granting me too many blessings to count.

While these things are high on my “gratitude” list, I’ve also gained a renewed appreciation of something else: Community. I’ve seen countless acts of generosity here at the Foodbank by people whose only goal is to help their community. Whether it’s a volunteer who comes in to package food every week, or a donation of items from a group who hears about a need and steps up to help, our community pulls together to helps its neighbors.  As we enter the holiday season, I encourage others to count their blessings and then look for a way to be a blessing to someone else."
