Two people have been arrested after an alert Bowie County Sheriff's deputy made contact with the pair whose vehicle was stopped along a roadway overnight.About 12:05 a.m. on April 15, 2015, Lt. Todd Fore noticed a green Jeep sitting on the side of the roadway on Farm to Market 2148. As he turned around to make contact with the occupants, he noticed a female walking from the front of the vehicle and he saw that the hood of the Jeep was raised.

The lieutenant made contact with the woman and she was identified as 25-year-old Brittany Lavois McAdams of Texarkana, Ark. McAdams stated that her vehicle had overheated and she had stopped to allow it to cool off.

Lieutenant Fore became suspicious as he noticed the lone passenger with the woman was sitting in the backseat. The passenger was identified as 39-year-old Cory Vamont Young of Atlanta, Texas.

A warrant check revealed that the man had a felony warrant for "Delivery of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 200 Grams" out of Cass County for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed and Young was arrested without incident.

During this time, authorities say McAdams admitted to past methamphetamine use. So Lieutenant Fore requested permission to search her vehicle. McAdams granted deputies consent to search. Lieutenant Fore next located a container that allegedly contained marijuana. McAdams claimed ownership and was arrested for "Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces."

Both subjects were transported to the Bi-State Jail. While checking the back seat of the vehicle after removing Young, Lt. Fore found a purple baggy where the suspect had been seated. Authorities say it contained methamphetamine.

Young was charged with "Possession of a Controlled Substance Over One Gram and Under Four Grams" in addition to his warrant. His bond was set at $30,000.

Bond for McAdams has been set at $5,000.
