When the weather is nice, sitting outdoors on a patio is my preference rather than being stuck inside on a beautiful day. Most of us spend too much time indoors during the work day so why not enjoy lunch, dinner or just hanging out with friends for a drink on a patio. Here are some of my favorite patios in Texarkana.

For lunch, dinner or a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, whether you are looking for fast food or more of a sit-down meal, Texarkana offers many options for dining outside.

  • Starbucks

If you are looking to sit and have a cup of coffee the Richmond Road location is the first place that comes to mind. The Starbucks on State Line Avenue also has Orange Leaf right next to it so get a cup of coffee and the kids can get yogurt.

  • Hot Tails Crawfish Hut

How could I possibly forget this seasonal favorite? There are several covered picnic style tables to enjoy Cajun boiled crawfish and shrimp with all of the fixings. They’ve recently added smoked alligator, too. Just like Mexican food, I could eat crawfish every day. They are located on Highway 71 approximately five miles north of the Interstate on the right hand side of the road next just before Red River bridge.

  • Fuzzy's Taco Shop

I love Mexican food and Fuzzy’s is one of my favorite places to go. They have a great patio area. I usually get the pork tacos and cheese dip. I could easily eat Mexican food every day.

  • Sonic Drive-In

Great for fast food like a "brown bag" type of lunch and most of the locations in Texarkana have outdoor seating. The outdoor tables have an order menu with the push button just like the drive up parking slots. I love the grilled chicken sandwiches, too.

  • Hopkins Icehouse

If you like the downtown atmosphere, check out the patio at Hopkins Icehouse. It is a quiet setting and they have a great selection of different entrees. The beer on tap is tough to pass up especially if I order the Hot Chick Pizza. I have not tried the location near Richmond Road yet.

  • Pop's Place

Located on Highway 67, it has an outdoor patio area with tons of character. The last time I was there they have misters to cool us off. Take Arkansas Boulevard West toward the airport and when you get to Hwy 67, turn left. Pop's Place is just a few hops, skips and jumps down on the left.

  • La Fogata Bar and Grill

A little off the beaten path headed toward Genoa is where you will find this place. They often have live entertainment on the weekends. If you don’t know where you are going, you could drive right past it. Get off Loop 245 at the Genoa Highway 196 exit and go west just long enough to blink twice. You'll see an old truck sticking out of the turn-in area. It's part of their decoration and a great landmark to know you are at the right place.

  • McAlister’s Deli

A great place for a sandwich, soup and a half and half tea for me please! I used to work right across the road from this great lunch spot. Located on Cowhorn Creek Road on the Texas side of Texarkana. The patio is covered and stays pretty cool well into the summer. The servers are very friendly and the helpings are big. My favorites are the Muffaletta sandwich and the chicken tortilla soup.

  • On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina

Another great place for Mexican food and outdoor dining. Fajitas are yummy and the margaritas are a must. It is a great spot to take a break from shopping in a central location off all the Richmond Road area shopping spots. You can relax with chips, dip and a good selection of entrees before heading back out to shop until you drop.

  • IronWood Grill

With a rustic type look and a selection of sandwiches and pizza, two of my favorites, you can't go wrong.
