If you were ready to write off Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's relationship as just another failed Hollywood love story, know that there might be more pages in their story.

The couple, who announced they'd split up in June, were spotted outside a counseling office in Los Angeles, PEOPLE reported yesterday (September 3). The site says they used to attend weekly sessions, but stopped going months before announcing their separation, and this is the first time they've been seen back since.

PEOPLE said they were also seen at an appointment on Thursday (August 30), and though neither was wearing a wedding ring, they were both smiling as they walked toward Affleck's car.

The actors met on the set of 2003's Daredevil, and wed in 2005 in a Turks and Caicos ceremony. They had three children—Violet, Seraphina and Samuel—over the course of their ten-year marriage, and said they planned to seek mediation as a condition of their divorce.

"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter," they said in a statement, according to the site.
