The Kiwanis club of Texarkana is hosting their 55th Annual Pancake Day this Saturday.

There is an online Silent Auction going on right now to benefit the animals. The auction will continue this Saturday at Artisan's Gallery and Gifts.

There are so puppies at the shelter right now. It seems the Spring baby season is here early. There are at least 4 litters of babies with their mommas. So far only one litter is on the adoption floor—there just is not enough room for all of the animals. From small breed dogs to large breed dogs. Please take a look at these photos and see if there is a dog or cat that you could make room for in your home.
German Shepherds are my favorite breed so the new show on National Geographic Wild is perfect for me. 'Alpha Dogs' is a great show if you like to watch people being taken down by trained dogs. For some reason I get satisfaction out of watching a drug sniffing dog do his job.
Heinekin is approximately one year old. A sweet boy that is afraid of his own shadow. He appears to have been beaten at some point in his life. A scared dog that needs a patient family to give him love and comfort.
A big storm rolled through the Arklatex this afternoon. I believe it formed in the skies above my community. A tornado warning was issued, after the fact for my area. I guess all storms have to start some where.

I love Mardi Gras season. In the past it signified the beginning of crawfish season but I have since discovered that I can get crawfish as early as November if I am willing to travel south. I went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans a few years ago. Twice actually. It was a lot of fun. One trip was what I call the "Parade Route" because the entire 4 days was spent going to parade after parade.
Every rose sends a different message. The color you choose can make a big difference. Mixing colors doesn't get you off the hook of their meaning either. A mixture of certain colors also sends a specific message.
The First Annual Texarkana Mardi Gras Festival was a fabulous start to what I am sure is going to be many more events to come.
