Not one, not two, but six $1 million Powerball tickets were sold at the same QuikTrip gas station located in Glendale, Arizona.
Only one person has come forward thus far to claim their ticket and therein lies the source of a difference of opinion between lottery officials and the owner of the establishment that sold the tickets.
Tonight (April 30) marked the semi-finals of Season 2 of ‘The Voice.’ Each coach has two team members, who were graded. The coach’s grade combined with audience voting scores will decide which member represents each coach in next week’s finals. Can you believe we are at the penultimate episode already?
On tonight’s (April 30) semi-finals of ‘The Voice,’ belter Jermaine Paul turned in an emotional and stirring rendition of Journey‘s classic ballad ‘Open Arms.’ Paul pulled us in, thanks to all those runs and fills, effectively making a rock song feel like it was originally written for a soulful R&B singer such as Paul. He, as Christina Aguilera so astutely asserted, “put the Jermaine on it.”
Mariah Carey may be gearing up to celebrate her wedding anniversary and the first birthday of her twins Monroe and Moroccan on April 30, but the diva just got some bad news splashed across the tabloids. Her estranged sister Alison Carey Scott is suffering from liver cancer, on top of other problems.
Private Perry, reporting for duty! Live duty, that is.
Katy Perry performed her latest smash single ‘Part of Me’ on tonight’s (April 26) elimination/results episode of ‘American Idol‘ in a pre-taped performance that she filmed a day prior. She brought the same military vibe of the song’s video to the ‘Idol’ stage. It was quite the production. We were half expecting Martin Sheen or Marlon Brando to flash on the projection screens a la ‘Apocalypse Now.’
Elise Testone was finally eliminated from Season 11 of ‘American Idol‘ tonight (April 26). We say “finally” not because we did not enjoy her smoky, husky voice or her offbeat, edgy and rock ‘n’ roll song choices throughout the course of the season, but because the singer has been camped out in the bottom of the voting multiple times. The odds seemed to indicate that she would eventually be voted off since she set up residence in the lower tier more often than not.
On the 10-year anniversary of Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes’ death, her surviving TLC bandmates Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas have confirmed that they will embark on a tour this year. Left Eye will be part of the tour — she will be projected on screens on the stage. Hey, if Tupac can be resurrected as a hologram, why can’t a member of one of the most successful girl groups of all time?
Justin Bieber headed to London to preview ‘Believe’ for longer lead U.K. press. What better way to hear new tunes than with the Biebs himself as the tour guide of sorts. Thanks to this event, we learned some track titles, like ‘Die In Your Arms,’ ‘All Around the World’ and more.
America saved Jamar Rogers for Team Cee Lo on ‘The Voice,’ so Juliet Simms and Cheesa had to perform for the save on tonight’s (April 24) elimination episode. Cee Lo is the lady killa, so this battle was probably equally difficult for him. He ended up choosing Simms, ultimately ending Cheesa’s time in the competition. Rogers and Simms will represent Cee Lo’s beloved Team Red in the semis next week.
Florence + the Machine opened tonight’s (April 24) elimination episode of ‘The Voice‘ with a soul-stirring rendition of the new single ‘No Light, No Light’ from the excellent ‘Ceremonials.’ Flo was her usual ethereal and angelic self, thanks to her vocal delivery and her flowy white gown. If anyone knows how to put on a gorgeous and arty performance, it’s the redheaded goddess we call Florence Welch.
James Massone was instantly eliminated by coach Cee Lo while Pip was also sent home by his coach Adam Levine during the quarterfinals tonight (April 23) on ‘The Voice.’ The coaches had to effectively take one of their team members to the barn and shoot them, metaphorically speaking.
