Some area university students will have a very special Christmas this year. They are graduating from college.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana will celebrate its fall 2015 commencement ceremony at 6:30PM Friday, December 11, at the historic Perot Theatre in downtown Texarkana.

A total of 257 students from August 2015 and December 2015 will receive master’s and baccalaureate degrees. Approximately 188 students are expected to participate in the ceremony.

Dr. Jon Mogford, vice chancellor for research for the Texas A&M University System will bring greetings from the A&M System.

Dr. Emily Cutrer, president of A&M-Texarkana, and Dr. Rosanne Stripling, provost and vice president for academic and student affairs, will present the candidates and confer the master’s and baccalaureate degrees.

Dr. Bill McHenry, dean of graduate studies and research at A&M-Texarkana, will present academic hoods to recipients of master’s degrees.

Music will be provided by R. Andrew Clark, executive director of the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, and A&M-Texarkana student Hannah Woodard of Longview, Texas.

Those who will not be able to attend the ceremony may view it live at the following Web address: http://portal.stretchinternet.com/tamutadmin/. This is the first time the ceremony will be streamed online.

The spring 2016 commencement ceremony will be May 14.
