Alec Baldwin has been arrested after allegedly punching a man while fighting over a parking spot in New York City.

The reported altercation occurred in the West Village area of Manhattan on Friday afternoon (October 26), the BBC reports.

A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed the arrest to the BBC, revealing Baldwin had been taken into custody and now "faces a probably charge of assault."

PEOPLE reports that the incident took place on East 10th Street between University Place and Broadway, and that the actor, known for his portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, remains in police custody at the 6th Precinct in Manhattan.

The alleged male victim was reportedly struck on the face and taken to Lenox Hill Hospital.

Baldwin's camp has not yet acknowledged his arrest, nor the assault allegations.
