The 7th Annual "Best Salsa in he Ark-La-Tex" contest is Saturday at the farmers market at 305 Texas Blvd in Texarkana.
The Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market will host its annual Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex Contest Saturday July 23rd, from 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at 305 Texas Boulevard, Texarkana, Texas.

Market manager Holden Fleming invites everyone to participate, by making salsa, or coming to the market to taste test.

“The public is encouraged to enter their best salsa recipe into one of six categories; mild, medium, hot, smokin’ hot, and specialty,” Fleming said. “A restaurant category will also allow local establishments to show off their best recipe. If an individual wants to enter, all they need to do is bring four pints of salsa made with their recipe to the Farmers’ Market the morning of the event.”

Salsa registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and free tastings will be available at 8:30 a.m. Winners for each category will be announced at 11:00 a.m. Each categories’ winner will receive a prize courtesy of the Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market.

Along with the salsa contest, local vendors will be on hand selling fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts, and an assortment of other goods. Live music provided by “Jazz by Bryan and Cathey” will keep things cool, and special booths for children will provide fun for market-goers of all ages.

The Texarkana, Texas Farmers' Market is an open-air market in historic downtown Texarkana that provides an avenue for local vendors to sale their products while promoting healthy, locally grown food.
