We've already had a taste of cooler weather. Soon the temperatures will be cooling off even more and you know what that will mean? Time for delicious Chili at the 3rd Annual Eagle Chili Fest and Tailgate Saturday, October 14. Now is the time to sign up your team.

The Chili Fest is put on by the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Alumni Association on the University Center Lawn of the A&M Texarkana campus.

It's free to enter and teams can start setting up at 9AM. At 12PM the cooking starts and the event will be open to the public.

Rules for the Chili Fest last year included making a minimum of three gallons so there is enough to serve sampling bowls to the public.

Sampling bowls will be sold to the public for $5.

Trophies will be awarded to different categories including First, Second and Third place by the judges, also Showmanship and People’s Choice.

There will also be a Tailgate party with a balloon artist, bounce houses and live music.

According to a press release, the tailgate will continue until 3PM when the Eagles women’s soccer team takes on Louisiana State University Alexandria in a homecoming matchup. Homecoming Queen and King will be crowned between the women’s and the men’s match, which begins at 5PM.
